These oven baked baby back ribs are truly one of the easiest recipes for fancy barbecue ever! They are cooked low and slow, which makes them very flavorful and they are so soft that they literally fall of the bone!  I almost didn’t want to share this baby back rib recipe but then I was reminded that with “Tsiknopempti ” coming soon in Greece, this would be the perfect recipe for those that don’t want to go out for dinner that day.It is also the perfect game day food with Super Bowl Sunday coming soon.

Tsiknopempti is the second Thursday of the Mardi Gras period in Greece and a day where everyone eats barbecued or grilled meat. These Baby back ribs are to die for and since this recipe isn’t too common in Greece,  and in addition this is the perfect opportunity for everyone to try something new.

Super bowl Sunday is an American tradition, where the two top teams in American football compete for the championship. It is more of a day of celebration and a good excuse for friends and family to gather and eat a great meal together. Even if you are not a football fan, the Super Bowl Sunday is a “must attend” since the witty commercials and the half game show are attractions by themselves.

Baby back ribs

This recipe will work both with baby back ribs and regular ribs. It literally takes 5 minutes of prep time and then you set it in the oven and you forget it for 4 hours. that’s it! You can go about your day and enjoy your friend’s and family presence while these  delicious baby back ribs do their own thing.

These baby back ribs start with your favorite bbq sauce, some brown sugar and a
few easy to find spices .

You bake them in the oven at 320 degrees Fahrenheit for 4 hours and then you glaze them with your favorite barbecue sauce and finish them in the broiler. My favorite barbecue sauce is theKinders mild barbecue sauce but you are welcome to use the one you like the most.

Delicious oven baked baby back ribs! Very easy to make and they fall off the bone!

Course: Appetizer, Main Course
Cuisine: American
Servings: 5 people

  • 1 cup barbecue sauce 250 grams
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 3 tbsp liquid smoke
  • 1 tsp dry onion
Aluminum foil and parchment paper
Instructions
  1.  First of all preheat the oven at 320 degrees fahreneit.

  2. Place in layers bottom to top the aluminum foil, the parchment paper and the ribs.

  3. Rub the barbecue sauce mixture all over the ribs and close them tightly with the aluminum foil and the parchment paper.

  4. Place them in the preheated oven for 4 hours. Once that is done, take them out of the oven, open the aluminum foil pocket carefully and with a baking brush, brush a thick layer of barbecue sauce all over the ribs and place them back in the oven, in the broiler setting till the sauce caramelizes.

  5.  Finally, take out of the oven cut in portions and enjoy!

It is a great idea if you serve these oven baked Baby back ribs with some French fries and some tzatziki sauce.

The oven baked baby back ribs are so delicious and sweet, with just the right amount of spice and the tzatziki sauce is creamy and refreshing that it seems like they were made for each other. While this is the perfect Superbowl food, this is also a great meal for any hot summer night or even a 4th of July dinner.

It seems that these oven baked baby back ribs are my little one’s favorite because he asks for them at least twice a month. I do believe that  probably this is also one of my brother’s favorite meals as he  goes often to that  big American restaurant chain in Greece just to have these barbecue ribs.
